WHAT IS AN SLP?
An SLP, or a speech-language pathologist, works with people across the lifespan to improve or rehabilitate communication and swallowing difficulties. Communication takes many forms: it is in the way we read with our children, it is in the way we create and give presentations at work, it is in the way we study and write exams at school, it is in the way we connect with others and build relationships, it is in the way we listen thoughtfully to others, it is in the way we share our thoughts clearly with the world. Swallowing function impacts the food we choose to eat, our confidence eating around others, the social importance of food and eating, and our safety during meals.
